I know the general time frame, I was just wondering if anyone had any personal experience. How long did it take for you?

I’m going for Top Secret clearance right now for an internship this summer. My current problem is that if I don’t get the clearance and therefore this internship, I might not have time to apply to other summer internships, or even find housing for this one.

I applied and got the job in the fall. I’ve gotten the interview, drug tests, fingerprints, and polygraph done and in the past month they’ve been interviewing my references. Which hopefully means they’re near the end!… right?

I work the front desk of an Insulation Installation Company so we have manual laborers to do the installations. My boss is the branch manager and he just promoted our last crew chief to sales guy, he tried to get me to be the new crew chief but a month later found out the guys didnt like to take orders from a woman. we’ve known for a long time now that the laborers will take extra long on a job if they think its too small and wont get their 8 hrs that day. they end up losing track of time and getting over time. i think they do it all on purpose just to get over time.

3 of them finally got caught today and they get 3 hrs deducted from their time today.

we just got extremely busy and i told my boss that if we dont have a talk with our laborers we’re going to have a horrible month with builders mad at us cuz we have to change the schedule because another job took a day longer than supposed to. apartently he didnt have a talk with them. so today they got caught.

they’re all mexican cept for 2 and they dont speak very good english or atleast they act like they dont.

does anyone know how i should convince them that they need to get things done on time or this next month is going to suck. reminder that they prolly wont listen to any thing i say because im a woman and they told my boss they didnt like me as the crewchief. and last time i got on to them about being late in the mornings our top installer quit, but my boss got him to work again.
but thats the thing i cant justify anything because i work in an office i sit at a desk all day, we need someone out on the jobsites with the guys managing their time for them and that type stuff. i would love to do that job. but the guys dont listen to me. and again its hard sometimes to get my point across cuz they only understand basic english and i have to find words they understand

from the point of view of the great majority of american citizens, can you give 3 reasons why the ordinary american worker should embrace and support the outsourcing of their jobs to india and china and other destinations?

We know there are politicians and others who advocate the free trade thing which really is code for lets find the cheapes labor across the globe and open up those huge markets for multinational corporations. We understand why they want it. But as an american citizen who has a job here and punches the clock everyday making something or selling something or providing some service, why should we embrace policies that send our jobs to other countries?

I am a salaried employee and I was given a set annual pay at time of promotion. I am "salaried" for 40hrs a week (80 biweekly). I have to work 50hours a week under my job requirements. Let’s say if I work 50 hours on wk1 and 40 week 2 , because I called out sick one day. My paycheck will show 40hrs wk1 and 32 hours wk2. They will deduct 8hrs of pay from my paycheck and my check will be less than what my supposed to be weekly salary is. Even though I actually worked 90 hours. I thought Salary meant no matter what you work 20 or 50 hours you are paid the same. I don’t clock in or out, but are scheduled 11 hours days with 1 hour lunch to make it 10 hours each day x 5 days.
Does this seem right? I work in NJ.
Also my biweekly paycheck shows only 80 hours for two weeks and a hourly rate. Instead of the 100 hours I was scheduled and worked for two weeks under no call out weeks.

On 16th of July 2008 I had just clock out for my job and I was about to get in my car and go home went I saw the maintenance man talk to a co-worker who was park next to my car so I got into my and started to leave work when out of no where the maintenance man jump on the back of my car and punch it with his fist so I stop ask ask him what are you doing and why did you do that he reply you black monkey you better stop this car I say what he said it again so I got back in my car and pull forward and turn my car around to leave work because I was very offended by what he said to me so I was trying to leave when he block the driveway going out the park lot so I try to go around so he jump on my car again saying you black monkey you better stop this car. I so was very offended by him and I didn’t want to do anything stupid so I kept trying to leave he jump on my car again saying you black monkey you better stop this car I ask him to get off my car by this time I guess that we had made a scene all the department head was coming out the door to see what the problem was at this time I was still trying to leave I didn’t want to talk to no one I was really frustrated by him so I look to my left and I said the Director of Nursing coming down the sidewalk say Ms. Roseman stop so I stop got out my car and he approached me asking me what your name I told him to get away from me so he jump on the front of my car again I told him to get off my car he he say no I reply to him you have no right to be on my car I asked the Director of Nursing to get him off my car he has no right on my car and she asked him to get off he did then he ask me my name again so Ms,White told him my name by this time the Executive Administrator come out standing on the sidewalk with his arms folded saying nothing then Corp rate Nurse arrive saying call the police so I reply please someone call them this is not legal to stop people from leaving work I’ll I want to do is go home please move this cars so I can go home so they move the car and I went home the next day I arrive at work nothing was said I approached the Director of Nursing I asked her if I did something like that would I still be working here then I told her what he say to me and she didn’t respond to me she just walked off so I did my work for that day went home I was off for two day and when I arrive to work on Sunday I was told not to clock in but to call the Director of Nursing so I call her she told me to go home and write a statement about what happen and bring it back tomorrow so I did when I arrive at my job on Monday she was in a meeting so I had to wait so I did when the meeting was over I went in the sun room where she was sit and I gave her my statement and she read it saying really that what he said I respond yes she reply that not the first time I will put this with your file but I have to firer you because was aggressive that day I respond that I just wanted to get off the property before I did or said something I had no business I just wanted to leave she reply yeah I know what your saying but when everyone was out there you said of said he disrespected me by calling me a black monkey then the attention would have put the attention on him not you I reply at that time I was not thinking I only had one thing on my mind leaving then I asked her how is they going to firer me for trying to leave work I was off the clock trying to leave work she reply again you didn’t say he disrespected you I say OK who going to pay for him dent me car she said call and tell Greg Dyke Executive Administrator say ok and I left and when home.

If we are not billing for client work we are clocking on Company time. Is what we are being told. But I am salary so my time should already be allotted for…Right?
Some other salary employees have had their hours cut. Is that illegal or unethical company practice?
I am tired of companies pushing employees around because the economy sucks and everyone is just happy to have a job. ( sick of the economy excuse)
I appreciate that I have not lost my job but what’s wrong with not wanting to be bullied.

Do any of you work with a lot of Kenyans at job sthat you have to clock in and clock out everyday (not salary)? Do they come to work on time, or do they tend to be two hours late a lot? Where I work some Kenyans come to work on time, others come in very late. I read in my anthropology book that Kenyans worry about getting the job done then when they get there. I don’t think realize that when you work in retail its about the hours you work not the actual task you are having to complete. One girl that was Kenyan that use to work with me, she use to come on time for a long time, then she must have felt at home, or she thought people felt sorry for her and she wouldn’t get in trouble fo it. She would come in like 2 hours late alot, and the boss never did anything about. She would always make up some lame excuse She is finally gone. Her cousin was the same way. If you are or were a boss whether it is for an employee that is salary pay or not. How many x could someone be L8 n get way with it

it is obivously summer now and i am SOO bored! i need to do something. Here is just another day to punch the clock and just get the day over with. I have no one to hang out with! what can i do? my sister is at a friends house…as always. She was introducing me to some of their sisters and brothers and they are SO mean! so i have nobody
1. cant get a job…you have to be 15 1/2 to do anything around here
2. to cold today to do anything outside
3. i dont like the movies
4. i dont want to go to summer camp to make friends! unless they have a punk rock summer camp!
i am very sad and bored. What can i do? And where can i go to make friends? I never have friends! I am not mean! but i did just dye my hair hot pink not a lot of people like that

I had two jobs during the 2007 tax period. One was taxi driver. It is considered self employment (contracting or sub-contracting), and I recieved a 1099 Misc. The other job was a regular job in a store. Hourly pay, punch a clock, etc. I recieved a W-2 for that one.

Income from both forms combined adds up to less than 13,000 dollars.

I know I need to use a 1040, but which one? Also, will I have to use additional forms, such as 1040 schedule c, for example?

Please don’t bother to answer if all you can do is refer me to the irs website. I’ve looked at their information already, and it doesn’t help.
