What is the AFIA fingerprinting system and why is it used for law enforcement (not used for public places) (and it’s not the technology that goes in your integrated fingerprint scanner that’s in your laptop)
What is biometrics system and why is that used for civil purposes only?
I keep getting error messages; invalid user name or password. I have been using the same user name and password for years. Yahoo’s help suggestions don’t help. The new security image doesn’t work when trying to change my password. It keeps saying, you must validate new security image, but doesn’t say how. I tried IE-7 and Netscape 8.1 on one computer and also tried a different computer with the same results. My other yahoo account works fine on both computers, but the main e-mail account with all my folders won’t accept my login information by typing or with my fingerprint scanner.

I’m headed to college in the fall and I am currently in the search for a college laptop. I’ve done a lot of research and I love all of the features on the Alienware M17 laptop, but have heard nothing but bad reviews on it. I like it because of its style, security fingerprint scanner, cool customizable lights all over it, and space, although the size and weight are a downfall. I would not use it for games, rather just for a ton of music, documents and photos etc… Are there any other laptops for 00- that have a ton of space for music and photos, and look stylish as well as having the cool features as the alienware m17? What’s your opinion on the Dell XPS laptop? Are they reliable? ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! THANKS IN ADVANCED!
I was looking into alienware because of (again) the features it had were really cool, and because of the very different design it had. Also because I was told that even if you don’t use a gaming laptop for games it will still be very fast and you can use the space that was for games, for music video documents etc. And as far as the weight goes, were not talking 45lbs, it’s like 9.5 lbs which I agree is a lot for a laptop but a lot I’ve looked at were all around 7 or 8…
Ok. so i have a ‘Compaq nc2400′ laptop, and it has a fingerprint scanner. To use it, i need to download software from HP.com. These are: ‘HP ProtectTools Security Suite’ (latest version 3.00 required) and i also need ‘Authentec Fingerprint Driver’ (version 1.10 latest). I have downloaded and installed them both and it seems to work, but when i open HP ProtectTools, it doesnt give me the option to set up my fingerprint for me to scan when i log in….WHY?
My school sent me a brand new HP laptop with a fingerprint scanner.But they de-activated it and replaced the security with a password instead.How do i re-activate the fingerprint scanner?
Does anyone know a way to set up Windows Vista Home Premium in such a way that it requires both a typed password *and* a fingerprint scan to log in. I have Verisoft as the fingerprint reader software.
They say having a fingerprint scanner is improved security… not if you can still log into the computer without the fingerprint scan…

Let’s just say a guy ran a kiddie porn ring, for example, and uploaded the pictures using his laptop computer that has a fingerprint scanner built in (for added security). Would the government be able to match the fingerprint, and therefore his identity, with the uploaded pictures? Would he be caught because he had a fingerprint scanner?

I just got my Dell Latitude today and I cannot figure out where to set up or do anything with the fingerprint scanner on the computer. There is no manual with the computer. I have looked everywhere on the control panel under security items and account settings. Any ideas? Is there some kind of software I need to download?
i have a macbook pro and there is someone in the household who’s very techy and he knows how to crack passwords via a CD to get into my account. This is very very very annoying so i was looking for a notebook lock that would prevent him from opening the screen but all the locks i see online do not stop the screen from opening up. So I was wondering is there any product that may help me. I was looking at the Sony FIU 600 Puppy fingerprint scanner b/c i knew it was mac compatible. since it plugs into the usb port is it possible that this password cracker can get past this by taking the scanner out of the usb port? idk but im desperate to try any possiblity to keep my macbook pro out of bad hands. any1 have any feedback that may help me?
I find these fingerprint scanner things on laptops really cool. Are they really worth it?
