this month our school had everybody get "5 points of the finger" scanned to use for the lunch line. some kids in my class refused saying they never bough lunch, it was an invasion of privacy and it was obviously a fingerprint.
yesterday the school announced, "everybody who hasn’t gotten their fingerprints scanned yet needs to do so on monday."
and the few kids who had refused were outraged.

anyway, could somebody explain to me why they don’t want to get their fingerprints scanned?

When I buy alcohol, I want my fingerprint, social security number, medical information, retna scan, hi resolution picture of my face, info if race and country of origin of my parents, info about me owning firearms, and info about what clubs I belong to, getting scanned by the 18 year old employee. Not like any of that is private information…

I need this new ID because someone could have a fake ID with my face and name on it, and they could be trying to buy alcohol with it!

I want the card to be updatability with whatever information the department of homeland security thinks best. I want the card to be unchallengeable by courts for constitutionality.

I need to be safe. So when can I get my National (not "National ID") Real ID? And who do I vote for to get it?

Please list ALL the candidates, and if they support the Real ID act. Thanks!

at MEPS they do two checks- fingerprint and FBI. i want to know if they do these checks just for criminal and mediacl reasons or if they also do these for prior service. and for prior service do they just check your name and social security number or fingerprints also. or are fingerprints primarily reserved for criminal background checks. Also does any of this matter if the prior service was only for 3 months- did not graduate AIT?

I need to mount and lock a Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun in my house. It’s more about family safety (have kids) than infallible theft protection … if someone had plenty of time in the house, I realize anything lagged into the wall studs could by pryed off. But all the locking mount systems for home seem to involve a key. I want a combination (or fingerprint/biometric, which I fear would be too expensive). How about one of the electric locks from a police cruiser? There are many used ones on eBay, without the override key (I guess that’s a police proprietary handcuff-style key). They open when energized with 12V current. I was thinking, perhaps one of those collar-style locks mounted on the wall to hold the stock butt to the floor (with floor plate if needed), wired to a cipher keypad that can be programmed for a memorized, tactile combo entry that could accomplished done in the dark. Getting really inventive, I might be able to make that happen with an existing home security system keypad that has unused channels, or could be converted to a "dummy" just for the shotgun (my preferred mounting spot is right below said panel). Am I on to something, or is there something better already available, that does not cost more than my pawn shop gun?

REAL ID will be a new federally required identification card as of May 11, 2008. These "smart" ID cards will carry your background and have features such as magnetic stripe, printed bar code, optical, or radio frequency tracking. Homeland Security is permitted to add additional requirements– a fingerprint or retinal scan. The hidden Bill was attached to another Anti-terrorism proposal and passed.

Evangelical Christians have likened such a proposal to language in the Bible warning "that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." That mark is the sign of the "end times." Libertarians argue against increasing the power of government. Civil liberties groups worry about criminal mischief. National ID cards are used in many countries, including Cuba and North Korea. Like those citizens, if you don’t carry one, you will be subject to arrest. Republicans are rushing it via elections.

We are a small business under ten employees and have always punched in and out on a time card. Recently the owner is looking into software that clocks one in and out using ones fingerprint. This information is on an unsecure server that has internet access through a DSL line. Is this an infringement of civil liberties and do you have to submit to your finger print being on file with your employer for the purpose of keeping time?

i recently reinstalled windows xp, but my scanq sequiam fingerprint console wont let me in my computer. it says it is disconected even tho it is conncected. how can i somehow delete this program before logging in… cant go into safemode by da way, OS=WINDOWS XP HOME

Are Toshibas good as well? I was looking at one with a good security feature that uses a fingerprint in order for it to be used. A little pad scans your finger to be used.
