Do you have a word that YOU made up and use and then you hear other people using it??

I swear I made up the word "clock"; as used in "to clock someone" (punch).

And also the word abso-f*cking-lutly…and now everyone and their mother say that one!

Looking at the clock the same time everyday?

Has anyone else ever noticed that when you look at the clock, it always happens to say the same time and it’s some number that probably has some significance? It always feels like I’m looking at the clock at exactly 12:34, 11:28, or 9:11.

Why am I struggling to get a part-time job? everywhere I apply, they never call me back and no interview, why?

Right now I am very confused and frustrated as to why I never get a phone call back and no interview whenever I apply somewhere. I don’t know which one to blame, or maybe I should blame all of them, or one of them more than the others. Here are the reasons why I believe I am struggling to get a part-time, heck, I can’t even get an interview or a phone call back once I submit an application.
Anyway, here are the reasons that I feel I am struggling to get a job: A.) The horrible economy, recession. B.) I was fired from my last job for attendence reasons, however, they said I was welcome to go back and re-apply there within 6 months, and it has been more than a year now, but I don’t want to work there again. The reason why I had bad attendence there was because I had to call in many times to say I could not make it, because the work schedule they gave me conflicted with my school schedule. Last, C.) I have limited work experience, I have only had 1 real job in my whole life, it was at Disneyland, I bussed tables, and cleaned, washed dishes, etc. I was a Busser/Steward.
Disneyland was my second job, and I consider it to be my only job.
My first job was Abercrombie and Fitch, but I only worked there 1 day, the reason why is because they never gave me any work hours or shifts, everytime I entered the place to punch in, or clock in, to print out my work schedule, I always had 0 hours. I asked my Supervisor as to why I was not getting any hours, and she told me because the company place was going through a transition phase at the time.
Also another reason is because, I recently realized this, because before I thought that could not be a reason why, but now I think it was a reason why I did not get any working hours or shifts. The reason why is because the person who hired me was a Manager that was on her last day of duty there, she was also the person who interviewed me.
Anyway, I at least got 1 paycheck from Abercrombie and Fitch.
Since I am inexperienced when it comes to having a job, and I was fired from my last job, what should I write down on job applications?
I am only looking for part-time work, I am 21, in community college, so I need a job that can give me a flexible work schedule.

Why do customers bother employees who are off-the-clock?

I’m getting tired of being asked questions when I am not on the clock.

When I am on lunch I usually go out and get something to eat, then I return to the store and walk right back to the break room. On my way there I sometimes get stopped by customers who will bombard me with 500 questions. I know that they see me carrying a Sonic or Burger King or Whataburger sack and a drink in the other hand, but why do they still ask questions? I’m not wearing my name badge. Why can’t they grasp the idea that I am NOT on company time? Being on lunch should be obvious, in the same way that being off-the-clock should be. When you clock out at the end of your shift, you should not have to deal with it anymore. 2:30pm to 10:30 pm means just that and nothing extra. Why should one do anything that benefits the company outside their scheduled time?

Should an employee be allowed to bring other clients to their job?

I run an after school program. Yesterday a family of a special needs child we used to have called wondering if the child (now 13) could be dropped off after school until my PM aide got off or they got there (whichever came first). My PM aide cares for him in the mornings before school. Being caught off guard, I agreed. I LOVE the child. We terminated his care because my license only covers through the age 12 and he was becoming a handful in terms of aggression and wanting one on one attention exclusively.
Yesterday the child was fine. He stayed with the aide and didn’t cause any problems. He was only there for an hour and for the most part the aide performed her duties however her attention was definitely more on him than the other kids. It still bothers me though. For one I am not receiving any compensation for him being there. The aide is being paid double. I’m paying her and the boy’s family is paying her.
I’ve already decided that if it happens again I will tell the aide that I think she needs to take on the job of caring for this child full time (the family has already asked her to.)

I keep thinking, would other employers allow employees to bring ‘work’ from a second job with them to work on while on the clock at their business?
Insights would be helpful.

Is it legal for the company my mom works for to do this?

ok there are a lot of things that is going on in her company, but im just going to tell you two things that im almost positive is illegal for them to do.

1) each employee needs to clock out when they go to the bathroom. yes even if you go to the bathroom to wash your hands, my mom knows it takes her 2:20 seconds to use the bathroom cause she clocks out for that time.

2) if an employee arrives late one day to work (even a minute late) they will get paid less for the whole week. my mom recieves 10-14$ an hour and if she is late she automatically gets 10$. i keep telling her to sue them because they are doing this to all the employees.

they arent paying for all the hours people work, they are really just doing a lot of sketchy business and people are suffering financially for it.

NOTE: this company is a world wide know company. it is a serious corporation that i believe everyone has heard of. my mom does in/out bound for dial america for sirius/xm radio

How to measure time without a clock?

The other day I was driving home. I always seem to miss a left turn light and have to wait for it to turn green again. It seems to take forever. I thought it would be nice to know just how long the light is red before it turns green again. Unfortunately I didn’t have a clock with a second hand handy. I was however able to figure out how long the light was red within about a second, but not until I got home. Any ideas as to what I did?
World Lover
Why would I have to wait to get home then?. My method is very accurate.
Researcher

On the right track but simpler than that. the clue is in the question. What are you doing while waiting for the light ot turn green?
